Sick leave

Not much to talk about this week, we were inside pretty much the whole
time. Soeur Grant is still sick and has been all week. Luckily we've
done a couple exchanges so I've been able to the leave the apartment a
little at least.

Wednesday the sisters from Geneva came to do a blitz with us. To give
both sisters a chance to leave the apartment, I went out once with
Soeur Rauzduel for a lesson and then we switched and I went out with
Soeur Fagg. This was my first time working with Sister Fagg and she's
so great! However, our exchange was so nul. I planned to go out to an
outer ville to visit a less active and bring her cookies and then do
some porting in the neighborhoods there. We really wanted to find some
golden families! We planned to even have a miracle at 6:40 that night.
Well we set out and took a bus as far as we could to this town and
then we had a long time to walk, but I had it all mapped out on my
iPad. As we started to follow the map, we quickly realized the path
was a dotted line, which means...dirt road. It had been pouring
earlier that day. So yes, we commenced a journey through an endless
muddy trail that ended up taking us through fields and forests and
farms. I was highly unprepared in my ballet flats, but I only got
dangerously stuck in the mud twice.

When we finally reached our destination, well we never did because we
couldn't find the house number. But we reached the street. But her
house number didn't exist (so French). We called the less active but
of course, the two numbers we had for her were no longer phone
numbers. So we ported around and had a few conversations. But we
worried in the meantime, because we knew the bus stop was an hour
away, by trail, and we didn't know how we were going to get back
without walking in the dark. We started asking people for directions
and everyone told us different things, the most promising thing being
a bus stop twenty minutes away. So we started walking but my iPad gps
was not great cause we were just out in the middle of nowhere. And I
only had two percent battery. We walked around in the middle of
nowhere for a longggg time and we had a few prayers and at one point
even stuck out our thumbs to hitchhike. But when a nice woman stopped,
we didn't have the guts to ask if she would drive us somewhere, we
just asked for more directions. To which we received more confusing
instructions. Eventually, it was super dark and we were so tired and
cold that we knew there was nothing else to do but call someone with a
car to come get us. The Val de Saone elders we figured would be the
best option because their sector was somewhat close to ours. We called
president to ask permission for them to drive us and he said of
course. We called the elders and asked them and miraculously, they had
just finished porting only seven minutes away from us. We were in the
middle of nowhere! I got off the phone and it was 6:40. Miracles
happen when you prayerfully plan them, even when it's a different
miracle than you expect. So that was definitely an exchange to
remember. Sorry that was so long but it was the only remotely
interesting thing that happened this week. While it was a disaster, it
was such a fun day. Sister Fagg was such a trooper and we got to know
each other super well. She's from England and I loved hearing all
about her family and life. I would love to serve with her one day.

We also had an exchange with the Val de Saone sisters the next day. It
was fun! I was with Soeur Vandroux, Allison's bleue, and we worked in
their sector. So we went to a couple rdvs with their amis and had a
lot of fun. Soeur Vandroux is an awesome missionary and you would
never know she's only a blue! She teaches and testifies with
conviction. She's so funny too, when she speaks English she has the
cutest little accent and I just die laughing at everything she says.

We ended up doing another exchange with them yesterday as well,
because Soeur Vandroux and Soeur grant were both sick. So we figured
they could be sick together and the Hurd sisters could get stuff done!
So I got to do one last exchange with Allison before she goes home! It
was super fun. I had to go to her ward and mine too that afternoon, so
that was rough, but her ward is really great.

Today we're at president's for president's Pday!

Je vous aime!

Exchange with Geneva: prospects of our journey were high in the beginning. Quelle beaute!

Exchange with Geneva: still in high spirits, even though we discovered the mud.

Exchange with Geneva: starting to get a little discouraged...
