An Aixcellent week

I love being here in Aix!! It has been so fun so far. Soeur Skalka is
just a doll and makes everything a blast. I didn't know that it was
possible to make every activity so fun! I know I'm her companion right
now because the Lord wants me to acquire this trait. My personality is
the no-fun-gotta-get-things-done type and I know my future children
will be able to thank her one day for helping me change.

We're still working on getting new amis, but Tuesday we had a rdv with
a really cool potential named Marine and she's the best! She really
wants to learn more about the church. She's grown up with an innate
sense that there's something more and she has a huge testimony of
prayer. She has had several experiences sharing with people what she
knows and helping them believe in God. Unfortunately she didn't come
to church yesterday but we'll be seeing her this week.

I adore the ward here. It's the smallest ward I've served in, as far
as people that attend Sunday meetings, but I like it because I'll
probably get to know the members better than ever before. They're so
loving and I already feel very welcome here. And ward council was FUN.
IT WAS FUN. For anyone that has been to French ward councils, or any
ward council for that matter, you know this is a big deal. Maybe it
has to do with the fact that the RS president brought food, but I
think it is mostly because everyone was just so pleasant with each
other and happy to be there and they're just friends! No arguing, no
stress, just getting business done and laughing along the way. I
actually enjoyed being there and I'm very much looking forward to
serving in this ward this transfer.

I'm just so excited for this transfer in general. Like I said, Soeur
Skalka is so fun so we've already planned so many fun things for this
zone and for the sisters we are over. Week 6 we are doing a big
finding day in Cannes with all the sisters in our area so there will
be 8 of us having pday together and then going out the next day and
building up the teaching pool for the Cannes sisters. We're so
excited! We talked to our sisters about it and we want to make it
girls camp themed. But even more fun. So we're going to eat s'mores
and....do other girls camp things that are still allowed as
missionaries. Braid hair and go without make up? Haha well it will be
fun no matter what.

We've been doing a lot of finding ourselves here in Aix. We spend
quite a bit more time contacting everyday than I ever did in Lyon, and
we've met some really wonderful people. We've placed so many
proclamations on the family, there's no way at least one of them isn't
going to fall into ready hands! I'm so grateful for all the tools that
we have on our mission to share the gospel. I was reading in Alma 8 in
the Book of Mormon yesterday, when Alma the younger goes to preach to
the people in the city of Ammonihah. They're totally not interested
and so they persecute him and cast him out of the city.

14 And it came to pass that while he was journeying thither, being
weighed down with sorrow, wading through much tribulation and anguish
of soul, because of the wickedness of the people who were in the city
of Ammonihah, it came to pass while Alma was thus weighed down with
sorrow, behold an angel of the Lord appeared unto him, saying:

15 Blessed art thou, Alma; therefore, lift up thy head and rejoice,
for thou hast great cause to rejoice; for thou hast been faithful in
keeping the commandments of God.

Many times we meet people who are not at all interested in learning
about Christ. They reject us and are even mean about it, and
oftentimes we walk away from a conversation feeling like Alma. Yet
Heavenly Father doesn't measure our success by other people's
decisions. We have many reasons to rejoice, for we have been faithful.
The angel then tells him to go back and preach repentance to those
people. It says Alma turned around and went back speedily and entered
in the city by another way. Now, I haven't had many experiences when
the Lord has told me to turn around and approach the same people we
just walked away from to restart the conversation and tell them to
repent. But, he has given us the means to enter in by another way. We
have so many tools as missionaries, namely temples and the
proclamation to the family. Maybe people aren't ready to hear the
fullness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, but they are ready to
hear of the idea of an eternal family. Or maybe they do like the sound
of a living prophet. This week I have found many opportunities to lift
up my head and rejoice over the work we have done and feeling the
Lord's approval.

Tonight we're going back to Lyon, my other home :). We have leadership
council tomorrow and I'm excited to hear from president and receive
new instruction for our mission. He always gives us inspired counsel.

Ok it's superrrrr weird seeing pics of Allison back with the family! I
think the weirdest thing is just seeing how much everyone had changed
since I've been gone. I'm sorry, who is this little man that I think
is STEPHEN? Is this the same cutie Steeeve that I left not long ago??
He is so tall and his voice is five octaves lower. And Lindsey is a
real pregnant mom! So cute! I will have to find some cute baby clothes
to bring home, so let me know asap when you find out if it's a girl or
boy.

Je vous aime très fort !
