went and what he spoke about. I wish I could just send you a
transcript of the entire conference because it was all so wonderful! I
don't know if he had a specific topic, maybe we could say it was the
Doctrine of Christ. He talked a lot about repentance and baptism. He
also opened it up for questions. But I'm fairly certain that he didn't
come planning on talking about a specific theme, but built off of what
was already said and mostly relied on the spirit to tell him what to
say. He left us with a blessing at the end. It was magnificent.
I could send you my notes, but I think it will suffice to tell you
just a few of the things I learned. First, the Book of Mormon is the
key to everything we do in missionary work. The Book of Mormon is
true! It is the proof that the restoration of the church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints is real. There is power in reading that
book. I know this to be true as well. I know that the Book of Mormon
changed my life and that I'm happiest when I am reading it
consistently and living by its teachings. Second, enduring to the end
is a lot of little choices everyday, practicing and practicing to be
good and do good, over and over again, and that's how we change.
That's how we sustain our success and maintain a remission of our
sins. We keep trying and we keep repenting. Third, Jesus the Christ
lives. He lives! He knows us each individually. All our efforts in
this life should be to learn to recognize his voice and then follow
it. And each time we recognize it and follow it, he speaks to us more.
We should always be listening for this voice. President brown said at
the beginning of our meeting, "Elder Christofferson, this mission has
prepared for this conference. Each missionary has been studying your
talks. And when you stand, they will recognize your voice." Yes! Just
as we would easily recognize the voice of an apostle, even the manner
in which he speaks as we're reading a conference talk, we must and
will come to know the voice of our Savior, the good shepherd when we
heed his call, over and over again.
I could go on, but I am just so grateful for our mission. I am
continually amazed at the miracles we see when we work together. OH. I
almost forgot to tell you that president announced the results of our
goal and we got 223 NEW ENGAGES. THAT IS INSANE. Seriously I don't
know how that is possibly but it was Christ feeding the 5000 with a
few loaves and fishes. There's just no way that was possible! But we
did it! See!! The Lord works the greatest miracles in our mission and
I stand all amazed as I watch it unfold.
You would probably also like to know that Elder Christofferson is
FUNNY. He was cracking jokes the whole time! And his teeth have got to
be fake...they're perfect. Also, his handshake is the warmest
handshake I've ever experienced. It felt like his whole heart and soul
was in it! And I even got an eyebrow lift when I said I was from
Virginia! He was totally sparked by that. I think the most important
thing I learned that day was that Elder Christofferson is a true
messenger and special witness of Jesus Christ. When he spoke, he spoke
with the power and authority of God. He spoke carefully, as if he was
depending on the spirit to tell him what to say at every instant. He
knows Jesus Christ, and he bore powerful witness of Him to us.
It was wonderful to have another all-mission conference. This is the
third one I've had on my mission, and that doesn't happen very often,
so I've been very blessed. We have wonderful missionaries and
wonderful senior couples. They're all my best friends! I love the
Browns. I love this Gospel. I couldn't be happier!!
Je vous aime !
