Cannes Chronicles

Bonjour famille!

This week we did two blitzes in a row with the STLs and the sisters
from Montpellier. They are all so great! I was with Soeur Scruggs for
a day, one of my STLs, and I learned so much from her. She is super
cool and funny and just a great missionary. We contacted for a longgg
time and had some really great conversations with people! Including
one on a bus with a creepy man that went something like this in broken
English: "You have someone? You have like a special friend? But you
see I really like you. You don't have five minutes for me everyday?
Just five minutes?"

Then the following day I was with Soeur Frandsen who is very shy and
sweet but very courageous! We went porting and contacting for the
whole afternoon and had almost no success. That happens a lot here.
But we work through the heat and keep walking so at the end of the day
we know we used all our time and strength for the Lord.

Work is pretty hard here in Cannes. We have only one amie, and she
told us yesterday she is so busy with work she won't have time to see
us until October. 😔 you can imagine our tristesse. We were feeling
little bit discouraged, but as Soeur Holmes and I were counting up our
numbers for the week, we realized we had still taught 15 lessons! Even
though they were all street lessons, and only three of those people
actually let us take down their information to learn more, we were
helping people to come unto Christ through teaching his doctrine and
testifying of his love and sacrifice. Since then we had two lessons
with people we found and they were wonderful! One man is struggling
with a lot of family issues right now and so, so sad. We taught him
about the Lord's plan for him and how the restored gospel will bring
him hope. Unfortunately he's Muslim and said he doesn't have the right
to come to our church, so our next lesson might our last. It can be
dangerous for us and them to teach Muslims so we will just give him
all the information we have and hope one day he will change. The
second lesson was with a woman from the Philippines who is so sweet!
She is Seventh Day Adventist but wants to study other religions to
make sure she knows which one is right. She seems pretty content in
her current religion but is willing to read the Book of Mormon to see
if it's true. She has so much potential! I love her.

Tomorrow is the day of departure for the Roneys and day of arrival for
the Browns. I think the sadness has left for the most part and now I'm
excited to meet the new president and learn how to be a better
missionary from him! We have our first interviews with him at zone
conference next week. Tomorrow is also my birthday and we're going to
the bishop's house! Apparently the bishop's wife makes you wear a
funny hat and do other embarrassing things on your birthday so we'll
see how that goes haha.

Warning Dad: Soldes has started. If you notice a remarkable deplete in
my bank account, it most likely isn't identity theft...

I miss Allison! I hope I get to see her soon!

Following up on earlier challenges: have you prayed to find someone in
your circle of friends or associates that is ready to hear the gospel?
Have you visited someone who is sick, widowed, elderly, or afflicted
in any manner?

Je vous aime!!

Most of our district at Eze! Check out that view. We are hobbits. Also it is accentuated because we were standing on a slope. Two ZLs in white, and two baby bleus wearing blue! So fun to have bleus in your district.

Sister Holmes decorated my desk for my 6 month mark with cute notes :)

Went porting in this :(
